Religious Overtones [WARNING: Contraversy Ahead]

I am a bit tired of facing overtones of Christianity everytime I open my Facebook inbox. I am not a Christian. I am not part of a any religion. I have been 'born again' before, but reading the Bible makes everything a bit fishy for me. It would be all well and good, accept Christ and you'll never die. But the religion itself is so askew. Why is it that Christians, the Children of Peace are so full of hate and intolerance? Why do so many of them feel they are any better than other sinners despite the fact that they are taught to be humble? The Pope keeps an upside-down cross on his "throne".The leader of a country that calls itself the most powerful announced what people have acknowledged as The Mark. And yet, he is known to be Christian. (The date was 6/6/06, btw)

To the Christians:
Did you know?

-Both Lucifer and Jesus were referred to as the morning star. [Isaiah 14:12, Revelations 22:16]
-Jesus claimed he did not come to bring peace, but a sword. [Matthew 10:34-36]
-The Bible shows two creations in Genesis. The first by God on the sixth day (man and female together, equals) [Genesis 1:26] The second on the Sabbath by the "LORD" (man first then Eve from Adam.)[Genesis 2]
-Cain asked the LORD to mark him lest he be found and killed after being exiled from his family (is Adam and Eve were the first humans, who was he afraid of?) [Genesis 4:15]
-Cain's wife was a descendant of God's people. Not Eve and not his sister. (He was far from them at this point in time)
- In the Bible, the words LORD and Satan are at times inter-changable. [2 Sam 24:1, 1 Chron 21:1]
-God and the LORD gave Noah separate instructions in packing the ark. [Genesis 6:19-22, Genesis 7: 1-7]
-The Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit is not written literally anywhere in the Bible. It is a man-made concept meant to keep followers in the dark.
-In the oldest English copies of the Bible, God and the LORD are written as two separate entities and in the New Testament, heaven is never capitalised.
-We all know the Mark of the Beast appears on foreheads and right hands. [Rev 13:16] In the prophecy of Revelations, Jesus and the 144,000 behind him carry The Mark of His Father on their heads. [14:1] (This is stated almost sub-sequentially, following the description of the Mark)

Rumors:
-The 13 bloodlines of the Illuminati came from Jesus. They are the 144,000 that will be with him on the last day.

Think about that for a while and then tell me to save myself in Christ. Please respect the fact that I do not believe in following a religion. I honestly don't think God cares what culture we were raised in. If God is truly as fair and just as they all say.
FIGHT THE NWO!

Hey The Nickyness :)

Thanks for taking the time out to write your thoughts down. I notice there are no comments on your blog to this post, even after about a year, (Xavier gave some excellent responses on FB), so lemme reply now (Better late than never!).

Man! As you grow you change, you know?! It's been a year, and even though this past year has been kinda stagnant for me (playing the waiting game...), God has been growing me in ways that probably wouldn't happen if He didn't remove me from Jamaica and school.

I apologize profusely for my attitude toward you concerning Christianity and your FB mail box. I was less mature in the faith, rash, rude, abrasive, and annoying – all qualities that Christ frowns upon. I've repented to God about this, and received His forgiveness already, but I must mend the relationship with you guys as well. I am sorry for disrespecting Christ while talking to you, and I apologize for every other true Christian who has done what I did to you.

Concerning Roman Catholicism – it opposes God's Word, The Bible. It opposes The Gospel, and is contrary to Biblical Christianity in both doctrine and practice. Maybe we can get into this another time. But that upside down cross, and the very existence of a 'pope', are just some of the many clues that show that Roman Catholicism is not Biblical Christianity.

I'll try to briefly answer the 'Did you know' questions:

1."How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! - Isaiah 14:12

"I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star." - Revelation 22:16

Lucifer is called 'son of the morning' in Is. 14:12, while Jesus is called Morning Star in Rev. 22:16. Pretty close huh? Look at what 2nd Corinthians 11:13-15 says:

13.For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.
14.And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
15.Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

The point is, Satan is very deceptive, so deceptive that he often appears to be indistinguishable from The Truth. So, when Jesus The Messiah says He is The Morning Star, Satan will try to counterfeit Jesus, and deceive many.

2.I recently got the same argument from an atheist friend. I'll copy my response:
“[Atheist friend], you're absolutely correct that Christ *didn't* come to bring peace! He came to bring a sword! And that sword is The Word of God (Ephesians 6:17, Revelation 19:15). God's Word is Truth, and it cuts and divides (Matthew 10:34-39). It divides families and friendships when one party takes God, who cannot lie, at His word, but others in the family/other friends scoff and reject it – many times even to the point of persecuting Christ's people, as we can see all around the world today - http://www.persecution.com/. So, you're right that Christ is a part of the reason why there isn't peace in the world, but for those who have been born of God (John 3), there is not only John 14:27 Peace, but Joy everlasting – even in the fires of persecution (1st Peter 1:6-8) – and greater will their Peace be throughout eternity!"

3.I think Xave answered this question well enough. But I'll try to add my 2 cents.
The part in Genesis 2, describing the creation of Eve, was simply giving the details in the creation of woman that occurred on the 6th day of creation in Genesis 1. When it says God 'rested' on the 7th day, it means He ended His creating on the 7th day.

4.“And the LORD said to him, "Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.” - Genesis 4:15

Your question: “Who would want to kill Cain?” - Short answer: “Other children of Adam and Eve.”

5.Cain's wife (or wives?) was one of his sisters, or nieces, a daughter or grand-daughter of Adam and Eve. This sounds pretty creepy, but it wasn't 'incest' back then because the world was just starting! It had to start that way. The rule in the law of Moses didn't come and outlaw it until some hundred years later. Despite Cain being banished to far off lands, he could still find a wife, because Adam and Eve had many children, and the children of Adam and Eve had many children, etc. who would travel the earth, and because Cain simply had to reproduce!

Here's a good link on the subject:

6.The words 'LORD' (YHVH) and 'Satan' are not used inter-changeably in The Bible.

“Again the anger of the LORD was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, "Go, number Israel and Judah."” - 2nd Samuel 24:1

“Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.” - 1st Chronicles 21:1

Doing a study on the life of David would help you understand the context of these verses. These two verses give you different viewpoints on a time when David sinned against God, by:

Counting the members of the army of Israel and Judah, when the LORD did not instruct David to do so.
David did not even inquire of The LORD before ordering the census.
David pridefully thought that there was strength in numbers, and forgot that God chooses few to conquer numerous foes, as He did in the beginning of the nation of Israel being formed, when Joshua was captain.
David forgot that the battle is The LORD's.
David gave in to the temptation of Satan and disobeyed God. (1st Chron. 21:1)

The other viewpoint of this sin of David, given in 2nd Sam. 24:1, was that – God allowed David to be tempted by Satan, and sin against Him by numbering the children of Israel, because The LORD was angry with the children of Israel and would judge them by allowing them to be defeated in battle by their enemies.

7.Genesis 6:19-22
19. “And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.
20. Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.
21. And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them."
22. Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.”

Genesis 7:1-7
1.Then the LORD said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.
2.You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female;
3.also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth.
4.For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made."
5.And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.
6.Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.
7.So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.

Genesis 7:1-7, simply clarify and reiterate what was said about 'packing instructions' in Genesis 6:19-22. God (Elohim) and LORD (YHVH) is the same One True God, but the usage of the different words depend on what the writer (Moses) wants to express about God. 8.The word 'Trinity' is not written anywhere in The Bible, but neither is 'Millennium', or 'dinosaur'! But the meanings of those words, and the meaning of the 'Trinity' are in The Bible. The very word for God (Elohim) is *plural*, which shows that The One True God is plural, as in – The One True God is: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Many Bible verses show that God is 'Triune' – [Genesis 1:26, Genesis 11:6-7, Psalm 110:1, Matthew 28:19, John 16, 1st John 5:7-8, etc.]. I don't think anyone (including myself) will ever understand how God is One and three at the same time, but I wouldn't worship a god I can completely understand. Realizing that God is 'Triune' is liberating, because God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all (1st John 1:5).

9.The Tanakh (Old Testament) and the New Testament were written in Hebrew and Greek, respectively. Check out the link about the names of God. It's really interesting. Heaven being capitalized or not doesn't make much of a difference. It's still a place/state in the hereafter, where those who have trusted in Jesus the Messiah will go.

10.“Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father's name written on their foreheads.” - Revelation 14:1

Those who belong to God (all those who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus The Messiah) will have a mark on their foreheads. I really don't know how this will be. I'll just study and wait and see.

“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,” - Revelation 13:16

Those who belong to Satan will have the mark of the beast on their forehead or right hand. The beginnings of this is seen today with tiny microchips, and all that stuff.

The mark of the beast and the Father's name written on the foreheads (of the saints) are two different marks, for two different peoples.

I don't care for the rumors. I'll just study The Bible, and leave what I can't understand to God. I'm glad you don't believe in following a religion, Nikii! Neither do I. I believe in following a Person who is fully God and fully Man – The Messiah, Jesus. I also agree with you that God doesn't care about what culture we were born in. No matter what your culture, “...there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12).

Ah, we can talk more about this later.
Thanks for allowing me to reply, even though it's pretty long.
